I love the fact that my sixth graders are more fascinated with making bubbles than with the art project that I put together for them. The things that will capture their attention for minutes on end cracks me up.

On a different note, tomorrow I take off for the land of grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops and perhaps an adult drink:)
It's off to Bethel the new teachers go as we approach another weekend of inservice.

It's a good thing though.
Really.

Like I have said in the past, I will always enjoy catching up with the new crew of first year Alaskan teachers simply b/c I love to hear what they have experienced- good & bad. Different folk in different villages witness different things. It's gonna be a short getaway- but I believe a good one at that:)

Now- I could claim that I am an amazing teacher with mad skills in the classroom, or just be honest and admit that 3 of my students were out due to a crazy case of the strep going through the school.




It always changes the dynamics of a class when certain students are absent and I found myself moving right along through the material. I didn't think that was going to be the case this morning. When I woke up it was stinking COLD outside, dark, and windy. I was afraid that my students mixed with this weather would make for one very challenging day.




Not the case. It was the smoothest day yet and I am so grateful to God for how this day turned out. It is still windy and chilly, but my day went smoothly. I couldn't have asked for a better day!

Oh, and the cherry on top??? A package from my Aunt Jenny:) Can't wait to go home and open it!!!

Fall is creeping up and the tundra is turning red.

Pasta? Parents got that covered in a flat rate 15 dollar box.
Veggies? About 5 bucks for the cucumber and a tomato.
Beef? for 1 patty - $6.00

It's a lot, but it's a tasty! Definitely worth the cost.

Now I did get in on this action-but since I was the only female on a team where people don't call the ball, I took a couple of "breaks."

All in all- it's a sweet way to just get out and do something mid week. That and well, take pictures.
